Objectives NADH cytochrome b 5 reductase (b5R) and cytochrome b 5 (b5) catalyze the
reduction of sulfamethoxazole hydroxylamine (SMX-HA), which can contribute to
sulfonamide hypersensitivity, to the parent drug sulfamethoxazole. Variability in
